Lord Indra Dev (Hindu God)

Lord Indra Dev, the son of Sage Kashyapa and Aditi, was the main god in the Rig Veda. Lord Indra is primarily the god of rain and thunder, and the protector of cows, priests and even gods. He in invoked in about one-fourth of the hymns of the Rig Veda, far more than addressed to any other deity.

Lord Indra Dev is more anthropomorphic on the physical side and more invested with mythological imagery than any other member of the Pantheon. He is secondarily the god of war.

During the time of the Puranas, Indra lost his high status though he was still the god of the lesser gods, and the ruler of Swarga (heaven).

His consort is Indrani, also called as Sachi.

His weapon is the Vajra (thunderbolt) and Vayu (the wind) is his charioteer.

Amaravati or heaven is his abode, his bow is the rainbow.

The trees in heaven are kalpavrikshas (which grant boons), and Parijata is the divine flower.
